Rohnert Park Fire At Assisted Living Home Displaces Residents

A kitchen fire displaced several residents of a residential care facility on Thursday.

ROHNERT PARK - A kitchen fire displaced several residents of an assisted living home Thursday.

On Thursday at 7:30 a.m., the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety Police and Fire Services responded to a report of a fire at a residential care facility at 7300 Burton Ave.

Firefighters arrived and found all of the residents and caregivers had safely evacuated the residence and a stove fire had been put out by one of the caregivers with a fie extinguisher.

The damage was limited to the kitchen and did not extend to the living area of the home.

There were no reported injuries in the fire.

The residents have been moved to another location until the home can be repaired.

Investigators said the fire started from hot oil on the stove and extended to the cabinets and counter tops in the kitchen.

The fire caused an estimated damage of $10,000.
