Rohnert Park Fire Evacuations Lifted As Sonoma County Wildfires Monitored

BREAKING: Residents of sections G and H were evacuated earlier Monday.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — UPDATE: The city of Rohnert Park has lifted the evacuation orders and advisories issued earlier Monday for the G, H and K sections on the northeast side of the city. City officials will continue to monitor the fires burning east of Crane Canyon, according to a 5:30 p.m. statement.

"If the winds change and the fire begins to threaten Rohnert Park, we will advise the residents," city officials said.

Emergency shelters in Rohnert Park remain open at Faith Community Church, Burton Avenue Recreation Center and Sally Tomatoes. Burton Avenue Recreation Center and the Rohnert Park Animal Shelter are accepting displaced animals.

ORIGINAL POST: Mandatory evacuations are now in effect for the G and H Sections of Rohnert Park, public safety officials said in an alert at 6:30 a.m. "Rohnert Park evacuations centers are now closed," officials said. "Evacuate south — all Rohnert Park evacuations centers are now closed."

Voluntary evacuations were later issued for residents in the K section of Rohnert Park. Evacuation shelters are open at the Burton Avenue Recreation Center and Sally Tomatoes. The Rohnert Park Animal Shelter is open and accepting animals, officials said.

An evacuation center is open at New Life Christian Fellowship Church 1310 Clegg St. in Petaluma. The Petaluma Community Center is at capacity.

The Sonoma County Sheriff's Office advised it is headed up to Crane Canyon Road east of Rohnert Park.

"If you live in this area be prepared to evacuate," Sonoma County sheriff's officials said.
