Rohnert Park Police Warn Students About Social Media Challenges
"Stealing from your school is theft and slapping a teacher or staff member is assault. Plain and simple, it will NOT be tolerated."
ROHNERT PARK, CA — The Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety warned students Friday that it is aware of social media challenges, namely on Tik Tok, that encourage kids to be destructive at school to either property or others.
"In September, the 'devious lick' challenge encouraged kids to steal something from their school, such as soap dispensers and other bathroom-related items," police said. "We know we have had several of these 'challenges' occur on multiple school campuses in Rohnert Park. It appears the challenge turns physical in October."
The newest challenge is to "slap a teacher or smack a staff member," then run away, making sure to get the incident on video, police said.

"Challenges like these are expected to play out each month," police said. "In light of this information, Chief Mattos wants to make it VERY clear, if you act like a criminal, you will be treated like one. The Department of Public Safety will hold you accountable if you commit any type of violent act towards staff. Stealing from your school is theft and slapping a teacher or staff member is assault. Plain and simple, it will NOT be tolerated."
