Rohnert Park Resident Stabbed By Burglary Suspect: Cops

BREAKING: Neighbors with security cameras are encouraged to call the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety.

ROHNERT PARK, CA -- A Rohnert Park resident was stabbed Sunday night as he tried to detain a burglar he found in his garage, public safety officers said today. At about 10:30 p.m., a resident who lives in an apartment at 5900 Dowdell Ave. in the Fiori Estates complex discovered a burglar trying to steal things from his garage.

Officers said the resident chased the burglar into the courtyard of the apartment complex where he caught up with him.

As he tried to detain the suspect, the two got into a fight and the burglar stabbed the resident in the leg with a knife. Officers said the suspect got away. He was described as wearing a black or gray sweatshirt and dark cargo pants.

Public safety officers said the resident was taken to a hospital.
