Rohnert Park Sexual Assault Suspect Arrested In 'High-Risk' Hwy 101 Stop: Cops
BREAKING: Some southbound lanes were temporarily blocked Thursday in order for the stop to be made, police said.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A 30-year-old Santa Rosa man wanted on suspicion of sexually assaulting the mother of his child was arrested in a "high-risk" traffic stop Thursday on Highway 101, according to the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety. Detectives had been trying to locate the suspect, Adrian Madrigal-Chavez, since late Wednesday night when the 41-year-old victim told public safety officers that he had assaulted her on a bed in her Rohnert Park home while their infant child was present, allegedly threatening her against reporting the incident, police said.
The victim, who told authorities she and Madrigal-Chavez were no longer in a relationship, was taken to a hospital where an exam verified the injuries from the assault, police said. Following the exam, she went to stay with a friend because she was still afraid of Madrigal-Chavez, according to police.
Meanwhile, detectives reportedly worked through the night and into Thursday trying to locate him — eventually spotting him at about noon driving on Airport Boulevard north of Santa Rosa. A detective trailed Madrigal-Chavez onto southbound Highway 101 and put out a call for assistance from patrol officers, who were able to get behind the detective and Madrigal-Chavez as they approached, police said.

Based on the nature of the allegations and because the victim told police she had seen him with guns in the past, California Highway Patrol helped conduct a "high-risk stop" of Madrigal-Chavez just north of the Golf Course Drive exit — temporarily blocking some lanes of southbound Highway 101 traffic, police said.
Madrigal-Chavez was detained without incident as his vehicle was searched for firearms; however, none were located, police said.

After interviewing him at the police station, Madrigal-Chavez was booked into Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of rape by force or fear, sodomy and child endangerment. His bail was set at $125,000, police said.
