Rohnert Park Teen Arrested On Suspicion Of Sexual Assault On Trails

A 16-year-old was arrested this week in connection with reports of sexual assault incidents on walking trails in Rohnert Park.

ROHNERT PARK, CA — A 16-year-old was arrested Friday in connection with a series of sexual assault reports on walking trails in Rohnert Park, police said in a statement.

Detectives learned of the incidents on June 27 after a Sonoma State University employee told police that a man had exposed himself to her on Copeland Creek Path, police said, according to the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety.

The same day, Cotati police officers were responding to an unrelated call and noticed that a resident at the home matched the description of the suspect the woman described.

As Cotati police launched an investigation with Rohnert Park Detectives, two more women came forward and reported that they had been assaulted by a suspect matching the same description, police said.

After getting a search warrant and searching the teenager's home, police found evidence tying the suspect to criminal activity.

The 16-year-old was taken into custody and arrested on suspicion of indecent exposure, police said. His identity was not released due to his age.
