Rohnert Park Woman Dies of Suspected Heroin Overdose

Her companion, another female from Sonoma County, was also found on the ground at an apartment complex in Santa Rosa.

A 44-year-old Rohnert Park woman apparently overdosed while using heroin with another woman at an apartment complex in west Santa Rosa Wednesday night, police said.

Police got a call around 9:30 p.m. about a person who was on the ground and not breathing in a parking area near a pool house at the complex near Coffey Lane and Plata Court, Lt. Dave Linscomb said in a news release. Police found two women lying on the ground when they arrived.

The Rohnert Park woman was pronounced dead, and a 37-year-old Sonoma County woman was suffering from symptoms of extreme drug intoxication, police said. She was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive.

Police learned that Anthony Arteseros, 26, of Santa Rosa, who was with the women and called police, brought the deceased woman out of the apartment but fled before police arrived because there was a felony warrant for his arrest, Linscomb said.

Police later found Arteseros and arrested him for the outstanding warrant, according to Linscomb. Police also spoke to a 39-year-old man who was with the women and helped bring the deceased women’s body to the parking lot, Linscomb said.

Police said they believe the woman overdosed on drugs she took on her own volition, and there is no evidence of foul play or trauma on the deceased woman’s body. The woman’s name is being withheld until her family is notified, police said.
