Rohnert Park's 'National Night Out' Set For Tuesday, Aug. 4

The City of Rohnert Park and the Department of Public Safety are hosting National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 4.

The event is open/free to the entire community and will be held at the Rohnert Park City Center Plaza (475 City Center Drive) from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.

National Night Out is an event held throughout the United States, held the first Tuesday of August. The event is meant to increase awareness about police programs in communities, such as drug prevention, town watch, neighborhood watch and other anti-crime efforts. National Night out is another event that demonstrates Rohnert Park’s philosophy of community policing.

The goal is to build, support and strengthen our community by encouraging neighborhoods to participate in local anti-crime programs. Most importantly, send a message that our neighborhoods have a good relationship with their local law enforcement partners while fighting back. It’s also the perfect opportunity to get to know your neighbors even better. This event has been expanded to have other city departments, agencies, and local business sponsors to participate.

Some of the activities and appearances will include: bicycle rodeo, motor units, fire prevention smoke house trailer, fire demonstration, fire truck, RPDPS K-9, fingerprinting for kids, CHP car seat demonstrations, McGruff the crime dog, Sparky the fire prevention dog, RP Explorers, AMR Ambulance teaching CPR, SMART Train informational booth, Sonoma County Law Enforcement Chaplains, RP Community Center, RP Public Works, RP Disposal, Marin Sonoma Mosquito Vector, Sonoma State Police & Safety Services, Redwood Credit Union, Mary’s Pizza, Russotti’s Jumbo Hot Dogs, Martial Arts Academy Bujutsu Gakuin Wushu Xueyuan, Rebuilding Together, raffle, and our local celebrity balloon toss.
