Rohnert Park's Unemployment Rate Far Lower Than State; Cotati's A Bit Higher: EDD

On average, Sonoma County has among the lowest unemployment rates in the Bay Area.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA – Sonoma County has among the lowest unemployment rate in the Bay Area, with only 4.4 percent of the workforce unemployed, according to the latest report from the state's Employment Development Department.

In Rohnert Park specifically, 1,100 people of the city's 23,800-member workforce were jobless in July for a 4.5 percent unemployment average, the agency says. In Cotati: 300 were unemployed from a pool of 4,400 for a 5.8 percent unemployment average.

Preliminary estimates for July unemployment in California were released last week, and revealed that all but one of the nine Bay Area counties had unemployment rates below the statewide average, EDD data shows.
Solano County, with a 6 percent rate, was the only county with a higher rate than the state's 5.5 percent, which was up 0.1 percent from June.

The lowest unemployment rate was in San Mateo County, where only 3.4 percent of the workforce was unemployed. The unemployment rate in Marin County and in San Francisco was also less than 4 percent.
