2 Women Pulled Into Surf At Jenner Beach; 1 Drowns, 1 Survives

BREAKING: The tragic incident was at Goat Rock Beach.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA – One woman drowned but another was able to get out of the water at Goat Rock Beach in Jenner on the Sonoma Coast this afternoon, Monte Rio Fire Protection District Chief Steve Baxman said.

The Monte Rio Fire Protection District arrived just before 1 p.m. as a Sonoma Coast State Beach lifeguard was giving CPR to the woman he pulled from the water, Baxman said.

The other woman was being comforted in a vehicle, Baxman said.

Both women had been pulled into the surf, Baxman said.

Cal Fire, an ambulance from Bodega Bay Fire Department, the Sonoma County Sheriff's helicopter and State Parks personnel responded to the incident, Baxman said.
