Stabbing At Lola's Market: Suspect Sought In Santa Rosa

The victim suffered a serious injury after being stabbed in the neck, in what police described as a seemingly unprovoked attack.

SANTA ROSA, CA – A 61-year-old man suffered a life-threatening injury when stabbed in the neck Thursday evening at a Santa Rosa market in what appeared to be an unprovoked attack by a male, who fled on foot after the attack, police said.

The Santa Rosa Police Department responded at about 6:26 p.m. to Lola’s Market on the 400 block of Dutton Avenue to the stabbing report.

Investigators said the victim and the suspect were sitting at different tables in the restaurant and had not spoken to each other, when the suspect, with an unknown instrument in hand, stood, walked toward the victim and stabbed him once in the neck.

Officers searched the area for the suspect, but did not locate him.

The suspect was described as Hispanic and of medium build, in his 30s with black hair and facial hair. He was last seen wearing a large black jacket and blue jeans. Police released a surveillance photo of the man in hopes the public can help with an identification.

The victim was transported to a local hospital, and his name was not released.

Violent Crimes Team detectives are handling the case, which does not appear to be gang-related but with an unclear motive, police said.
