Santa Rosa Police Arrest Woman Suspected Of Auto Theft

A woman was apprehended Sunday evening in Santa Rosa after a brief police pursuit for allegedly stealing a vehicle.

SANTA ROSA - A woman was apprehended Sunday evening in Santa Rosa after a brief police pursuit for allegedly stealing a vehicle, according to police. 

Police said officers were in the area of Industrial Drive and Airway Drive at 6:23 p.m. looking for a stolen black Honda Accord from Vallejo.

Officers spotted and attempted to stop the vehicle, however the driver accelerated at a high rate of speed and failed to stop when officers turned on their emergency lights and sirens.

According to police, the officers pursued the vehicle on southbound Industrial Drive, before the driver lost control attempting to turn onto Center Drive and struck a parked semi-trailer. 

Police said the driver, later identified as 25-year-old Chelsey Westover, immediately got out of the vehicle and began running, heading east on Center Drive.

She was taken into custody and booked in the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of felony evading a police officer in a vehicle, automobile theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of burglary tools and giving false identifying information to a police officer.
