Sketch Shows Suspect In Attempted Kidnapping On Calistoga Road
Police are hoping the sketch helps identify the suspect in the attempted kidnapping of a 12-year-old girl as she walked to school.

SANTA ROSA, CA — Police released a sketch Monday of a possible suspect in a recent attempted kidnapping reported in Santa Rosa.
Around 8:30 a.m. Monday, March 7, a 12-year-old girl and her family reported that as she was walking to a nearby elementary school on Calistoga Road, a man driving southbound did a U-turn near the intersection of Calistoga Road and Piedmont Drive, then pulled over to the east curb.
"The driver/suspect then opened the front passenger door, threatened the victim, and tried to pull her into his vehicle," Santa Rosa police Sgt. Christopher Mahurin said. "The victim was able to fight the suspect off and run back to her home."

The suspect was described as a balding white man in his late 40s or early 50s who is around 5 feet 8 inches tall with a thin build and a beard. He wore torn blue jeans and a tan shirt that had an unknown emblem on the left side of his chest, police said. He was also wearing a small, gold hoop earring on the upper part of his left ear.
"Detectives have conducted area canvasses and followed up on leads they have received," Mahurin said in a news release Monday morning. "Detectives have not yet been able to identify the suspect, but are now releasing a sketch of a possible suspect. The sketch is only a likeness, and it is being used to hopefully identify a suspect."
Police asked anyone who witnessed the incident or has pertinent information to contact SRPD immediately at 707-528-5222.
A reward of up to $2,500 is offered by the Sonoma County Alliance Community Engagement and Safety Rewards Fund for information leading to the arrest of the suspected kidnapper in this investigation.
"If you live in the neighborhood of Calistoga Road and Piedmont Drive and have surveillance cameras, please check footage from the morning of March 7 and see if you captured any useful images or videos," Mahurin said.
