SMART Quiet Zones Take Effect In Rohnert Park, Cotati

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — SMART quiet zones were slated to go into effect Tuesday, Nov. 21 in Penngrove, Cotati and Rohnert Park. Quiet zones mean SMART trains will no longer use horns at railroad crossings in those areas unless there is an emergency, officials explained in advisory.

With the absence of horns, officials urged community members to be alert near all railroad crossings, tracks and trains.
