Sonoma County DA: Parole Denied To Man, 33, in Fatal Stabbing At Trophy Shop In 1999

The California Board of Prison Terms on Tuesday denied parole to a 33-year-old man convicted of a fatally stabbing at a Santa Rosa trophy shop in 1999, the Sonoma County District Attorney announced Thursday.

Cotati resident Michael Mouille was convicted in 2000 of second-degree murder in the death of 39-year-old Randall Odgers, according to District Attorney Jill Ravitch.

Odgers was an employee at Hall’s Executive Gift and Awards where on Oct. 27, 1999, he questioned Mouille who was absent from work for the previous two days, Ravitch said. The two got into an argument and Mouille used a 12-inch knife he kept in a sheath he wore on his side to stab Odgers 25 times, according to Ravitch.

Mouille stole a vase worth $250 then went home to wash his clothes, clean his truck, spray painted his shoes and took the vase to his girlfriend, Ravitch said.

Afterwards Mouille went to another job he held with a roofing company, she said.

The state parole board denied Mouille parole for three years, according to Ravitch.

“The crime committed by Michael Mouille was an extremely vicious attack on Randall Odgers. Mouille still remains a danger to the public, so it is fitting that he’ll remain imprisoned for at least the next three years,” Ravitch said in a statement.
