District Attorney Ravitch stated, “This was a pattern of conduct by the defendant that was very menacing and frightening. The victim in this case should be commended for reaching out to law enforcement so that the defendant could be held accountable for his actions.”
The charges resulted from a September 5, 2019 incident where Boatman stalked and threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend while he was still on parole for a 2012 domestic violence assault involving the same victim. Prior to the new incident, the victim had rekindled their relationship before cutting off all communication with Boatman. Boatman responded by sending numerous threatening text messages to the victim throughout the night before going to her residence late at night and knocking on her door. Boatman then sent the victim a photo of the exterior of her residence along with a picture of a bloody knife as evidence of his arrival and serious intention to carry out his threats. Fortunately, the victim had already fled her residence for the evening and was not at home when Boatman came by.
