SSU Students Accused Of Burglarizing Dorms During Kincade Fire

ROHNERT PARK, CA — Three Sonoma State University students were arrested by campus police Oct. 29 on suspicion of burglarizing dorms at the university while it was closed between Oct. 26 and Nov. 2 during the Kincade Fire and PG&E power shutoff, a SSU spokesman Paul Gullixson said.

Gullixson identified the students as Daryl Livington Reems, Jose Ricardo Rubio and Lamont Bryan Paxton, all 18 years old. The suspects also were arrested for possession of stolen property, and they were booked in the Sonoma County jail but no longer are in custody.

The SSU campus was closed between the afternoon of Oct. 26 and Nov. 2, Gullixson said.
SSU police are still investigating the burglaries and believe there were as many as 24, Gullixson said.

"This situation is both frustrating and disappointing for us given that it occurred during a regional crisis when our campus was closed and particularly vulnerable. But we are thankful that our university police were able to make an arrest in this case," Gullixson said.
