Suspect Suffers Serious Injuries In Truck Fire: Rohnert Park DPS

When the victim declined to give the suspect a ride, the suspect reportedly poured an unknown liquid and lit a match, police said.

ROHNERT PARK, CA — A Rohnert Park man was hospitalized with serious injuries when he lit a truck on fire Thursday at a local mobile home park, according to police.

Jason Bartlett, 47, is likely to face charges in connection with the incident reported around 5:15 p.m. Thursday in the Rancho Feliz Mobile Home Park, 6607 Redwood Drive, the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety said.

There was a report about a vehicle fire, and bystanders saw a man with his clothes on fire get out of the truck and run away.

The fire was out when officers and firefighters got there, and the owner of the truck was OK and had no injuries, police said.

"The owner of the truck said he had given a male a ride to the park, and when they arrived the male told him to take him to another location," Rohnert Park police said. "The owner refused and the male poured an unknown liquid onto the interior of the truck and threatened the owner."

When the owner again refused to take the man where he wanted to go, the suspect lit a match and dropped it inside the truck, the owner told police.

"The owner jumped out of the truck causing it to roll into a pole, as the lit match set the inside of the truck and the suspect's clothing on fire," Rohnert Park police said.

Officers were able to identify Bartlett as the suspect and determined he was on active parole.

They did a search of the area and found Bartlett behind the mobile home park on the creek path.

"Bartlett was determined to have serious injuries, and he was transported and admitted to the hospital for medical care," police said. "Due to the seriousness of his injuries, Rohnert Park Public Safety will be seeking charges to be filed against Bartlett for crimes associated with the incident."
