Suspected DUI Driver Arrested After Sonoma County Crash
George Varela, 47, was taken into custody after being released from care at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
SONOMA COUNTY, CA -- A Windsor man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after a crash that injured another driver this morning in Windsor, according to the California Highway Patrol. George Varela, 47, was taken into custody after being released from care at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, the CHP said.
The collision was reported at 6:23 a.m., when Varela's vehicle was headed southbound on Old Redwood Highway near Shiloh Road.
Varela crossed the yellow double lines and struck a sedan head-on, the CHP said.

Both Varela and a man driving the other car were hospitalized in stable condition. A passenger in the second car was not injured.
