Threat Shuts Down Sonoma County High School

Police investigate shooting threat as Sonoma County high school campus returns to normal Monday.

ROHNERT PARK-COTATI, CA — A threatening phone call jolted a local high school into lockdown on Friday.

Technology High School alerted the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety after a 1:30 p.m. call threatened a shooting.

School administrators locked down the campus as police mobilized. Police shut off Bonnie Avenue between Santa Barbara and Bernice streets and warned the public to avoid the area.

Officers searched the campus and began releasing about 400 students to their families by 5:30 p.m., confirming that all were safe and accounted for.

The Rohnert Park DPS Detective Unit is investigating the origin of the threatening call and trying to identify suspects.

Officials credited a multi-agency response, including Cotati-Rohnert Park Unified School District, Cotati Police, Sonoma State University Police, and Sonoma County Fire and Medic Ambulance.

Authorities also praised students, staff, and parents for remaining calm and cooperative during the lockdown, as the investigation into the threat continues.
