Christian Anthony Oliva, 18, was transported to a hospital but discharged with minor injuries, police said.

Investigators determined the two drivers are friends, and both drivers are residents of Santa Rosa. They were racing south on Summerfield Road in excess of the posted 35 mph speed limit. Earp apparently lost control of his vehicle near a curve in the road, police said.

Earp’s vehicle crashed into Oliva’s vehicle, and Oliva also lost control.

The crash scene spanned an estimated 700 feet, according to police. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor.
