Vegetation Fire Burns 50 Acres Near Santa Rosa

UPDATED: No structures were threatened and no evacuations were ordered, the Santa Rosa Fire Department said.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A fast-moving wildfire erupted Tuesday near southwest Santa Rosa and burned an estimated 50 acres but was declared fully contained shortly after 6:30 p.m., the Santa Rosa Fire Department said.

In addition to Santa Rosa FD, firefighters with the Sonoma County Fire District and multiple other agencies battled the vegetation fire that was reported around 5 p.m. Tuesday near Llano Road and Todd Road — partially within the city of Santa Rosa and partially in an unincorporated area of Sonoma County just north of Rohnert Park.

By 6 p.m., the wildfire was 30 percent contained and 40 acres.

"There are no structures threatened and no evacuations," SRFD said in a Nixle alert issued at 6:02 p.m. "Firefighters are making good progress and smoke continues to impact Santa Rosa."

In a follow-up statement at 6:38 p.m., SRFD said the blaze was fully contained at 50 acres.

"Firefighters built containment lines, have hose lines and engines completely surrounding the perimeter of the fire," SRFD said. "Firefighters will remain at the scene for several hours to extinguish all hot spots."
