Fire Burns Auction House Near Sebastopol

The Santa Rosa Fire Department posted video from the scene on Highway 12.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — UPDATED: A fire Thursday at a large commercial warehouse east of Sebastopol city limits prompted a response from multiple fire agencies. The blaze was reported at 1:17 p.m. at the JW McCrath Auction House, located at 6140 Sebastopol Road / state Highway 12, west of Llano Road.

The fire started in a debris pile containing metal items, machinery and old farm equipment outside the building and spread inside to the McGrath Auction House, Sebastopol Fire Chief Bill Braga said. A Saddles to Boots store inside the building did not burn, Braga said.

The incident left Highway 12 blocked in both directions. The roadway was reopened at 3:05 p.m.
