What Do You Want To See At Hwy 101 And Airport?
Sonoma County Transportation wants to hear from you at upcoming open house.

News from Sonoma County Transportation and Public Works:
The Sonoma County Department of Transportation and Public Works will hold an open house to hear ideas and provide information on landscaping options at the Highway 101 and Airport Boulevard interchange from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, May 12th, at 2550 Ventura Avenue in Santa Rosa.
In 2013 and 2014 upgrades were made to the Hwy 101 and Airport Blvd. interchange, and the Fulton overpass. To accommodate construction some of the trees at the Airport Blvd. interchange were removed, but found a new home creating essential habitat features for endangered salmon in the Russian River watershed.

The construction created new space for planting native trees or groundcover at the Airport Blvd. on and off ramps, and along the sidewalks of Airport Blvd. In response to the drought and in anticipation of landscaping water restrictions from Caltrans, the Sonoma County Department of Transportation and Public Works is evaluating landscaping options that could be irrigated with recycled water while the plants become established, and eventually require no irrigation.
Attend the open house to weigh in on what landscaping features could be developed at both the Airport Blvd. on and off ramps, and along the sidewalks of Airport Blvd. Designs are in the preliminary stages, allowing for maximum community input.
