Woman Accused Of Chasing Down Ex In Car On Joe Rodota Trail: SRPD
"She tracked him down to the Joe Rodota Trail and tried to get his attention by chasing him with her car along the trail."
SANTA ROSA, CA — A Santa Rosa woman is being held in Sonoma County jail in lieu of $1-million bail on suspicion of attempted homicide after police say she chased her ex-boyfriend in her car along the Joe Rodota Trail, and fired a gun at him. The incident involving Lynne Ranyce Young, 51 years old, came to the attention of police around 4:35 p.m. Monday when her ex-boyfriend flagged down two officers who were investigating a disturbance at a fast-food restaurant on the corner of Sebastopol Road and Dutton Avenue, SRPD Sgt. Summer Gloeckner said in a news release.
The man told officers his ex-girlfriend "shot at" him with a black handgun and chased him down in a white Ford Escape on the trail just west of Dutton Avenue, Gloeckner said.
Officers found Young in her SUV, pulled her over and detained her.

"A black Glock 43 .9mm-caliber handgun was located in the vehicle," Gloeckner said. "It was unregistered."
No injuries were reported in the shooting that was witnessed by several people on the trail, Gloeckner said.

A detective from SRPD's Violent Crimes Investigations Team was summoned to the scene and interviewed Young.
"The investigation revealed that Young had sought out the victim because he owed her money," Gloeckner said. "She tracked him down to the Joe Rodota Trail and tried to get his attention by chasing him with her car along the trail. The victim would not stop and talk to Young, so she pulled out the handgun and fired two shots toward the victim. The handgun then jammed and Young drove away in her vehicle."
Young was booked into Sonoma County jail on suspicion of attempted homicide, for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and a convicted felon in possession of ammunition, and for possessing an unregistered firearm, Gloeckner said.
Jail records show her bail was set at $1 million pending a court appearance Wednesday afternoon.
Her ex-boyfriend's name was not disclosed by police.
SRPD is encouraging anyone with information about the incident to call Detective Matt White at 707-543-3590.
