Woman Fatally Struck By Car On Petaluma Hill Road: CHP

CHP responded to the fatal incident at 9:17 p.m. Thursday on Petaluma Hill Road north of Curtis Drive.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A woman walking on Petaluma Hill Road was fatally struck by a car Thursday night, according to the California Highway Patrol. When officers responded to the fatal vehicle-pedestrian collision at 9:17 p.m. Thursday on Petaluma Hill Road north of Curtis Drive, they were told by AMR paramedics that the woman had already passed away, CHP Santa Rosa Area Spokesman David deRutte said in a news release.

"Just prior to the collision, Cotati Police Department and Sonoma State University Police were responding to reports of a female pedestrian running in front of passing vehicles," deRutte said.

"As they responded to these reports, they discovered the collision scene on Petaluma Hill Road between East Cotati Avenue and Curtis Drive," he said.

According to the CHP, a 37-year-old Napa man was driving a 2004 Dodge Durango south on Petaluma Hill Road when he collided with the pedestrian.

The Dodge driver stopped at the scene and was cooperative during questioning, deRutte said.

The deceased woman's identity was being withheld pending notification of next of kin by the Sonoma County Sheriff-Coroner's Office.

"We ask that any witnesses or anyone who may have information on this collision, please call the Santa Rosa CHP office at 707-588-1400," deRutte said.
