Woman Wakes To Intruder In Her Bedroom In North Bay
The female told police she woke up as the man was lifting her bed covers and touching her leg. He fled the house after she screamed.
PETALUMA, CA — Petaluma police are searching for leads on a home intruder after a woman reported she awoke in her bedroom early Friday to an unknown man lifting her bed covers and touching her leg.
The female called 911 at 3:32 a.m. from a residence on the 700 block of B Street, where two women were home at the time, the Petaluma Police Department said.
Officers arrived at the property within three minutes after the call and searched the immediate area and neighborhood for the person and evidence, the department said.

The suspect was described as a broad-shouldered man of unknown race, wearing a black baseball cap, black shirt and black pants, officials said.
No vehicle was seen or heard, no items of value were taken from the house, and it was unknown how the individual entered the home, the agency said.

"One of the victims said she was sleeping in a bedroom and awoke to an unknown male suspect lifting the bed covers off the bed and then touch her leg," police said. "The victim then screamed, and the suspect fled from the house. The other female woke to the screaming, but did not see the suspect."
Detectives are seeking any witnesses, who saw something suspicious in the area, along with home video-surveillance footage that possibly captured any evidence on camera.
"There has been no other similar type of burglaries in the area recently," the department said, adding that extra patrol officers are slated for the neighborhood.

Police also reminded locals to ensure windows and doors are properly secured at night, and that residential alarms and motion-sensor lighting "are also great deterrents to prevent any criminal activity. "
