- The Bureau of Reclamation has been releasing 5,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) of water from Folsom Lake, but it upped that number to 15,000 on Thursday, ahead of the atmospheric river that hit on Thursday night. The bureau will continue to increase that number throughout the weekend, as needed. (ABC10.com KXTV)
- A woman in the Roseville Heights neighborhood hit the panic button (literally) when her ex-boyfriend, who was under a restraining order, entered her home. The woman hit the button to try to scare the man away, but instead it called the cops. When officers arrived they noticed the woman was in distress and took her to safety. The man refused to leave. When they brought out the K9, the man surrendered. (KTXL FOX 40 Sacramento)
- A bloody fight broke out on Lincoln resident Jim Johnson's front porch, but this was no ordinary fight. It was between three coyotes. Johnson captured the tangle with his porch camera. “Since moving here, there has been a significant increase in coyote sightings," he said. According to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, coyotes' behavior changes when exposed to human food and garbage. They "lose their fear and caution." (Gold Country Media)
- Authorities said a couple "looked suspicious" as they were parked outside the city's main courthouse. It turns out there was a reason they looked that way: “A search of the driver revealed two plastic baggies containing suspected fentanyl,” the Sheriff’s Office said. “A search of the suspect’s vehicle revealed a toiletry bag containing additional suspected fentanyl and related paraphernalia.” That seems likea really bad place to be carrying drugs and looking suspicious - but it worked out well for the citizens of Roseville.
