Here are the top stories in Roseville today:

  1. Tapville is opening at the Roseville Galleria. The company offers 16 "self-pour" taps where you can serve yourself wine, beer or cider, along with 15 menu items. Tapville is targeting March 2023 for the grand opening. While many Tapville locations offer a "drink while you shop" option, California law does not allow that, so patrons will have a wine/beer garden area within the mall to enjoy their beverage and snack. (ABC10.com KXTV)
  2. U.S. Congressman Kevin Kiley, of Rocklin, is pushing President Biden on federal relief for Caldor Fire victims. Kiley talked with the president during a reception for new Congress members in January, where he took the opportunity to discuss the funding with Biden. “(Biden) was receptive and troubled that aid had not been granted and said he would get to the bottom of that,” Kiley's communications director said. “President Biden then directed his staff to look into the matter further and follow up with Rep. Kiley.” Looks like our local boy isn't afraid to take our causes to the big man himself. (Mt. Democrat)
  3. Roseville's new mayor, and former vice mayor, Bruce Houdesheldt took some time to reflect on the city's 2022 accomplishments and set some plans for the coming year. Check out what he has to say in this article from Gold Country Media.
  4. Royer Park is getting a facelift! At the City Council meeting on Wednesday, the council approved the Royer Park Play Area Expansion Project. To determine what the new park would entail, organizers reached out to children and asked them to submit coloring sheets of their "dream park." From there, a design was chosen. The expansion is expected to be completed in May. (Gold Country Media)
  5. The Roseville City School District Transitional Kindergarten program will be increased to five hours and kindergarten will be increased to six hours for the upcoming 2023-24 school year. “Research shows that full-day Kindergarten significantly reduces disparities in academic readiness as students enter Grades 1 and 2,” said Superintendent Derk Garcia. The registration deadline is February 17 for all new and returning students. (Roseville Today)
