  1. Randy Edward Martin of Roseville was sentenced to eight years and one month in prison for sending sexually explicit pictures of minors via the Kik Messenger app. "Cellphones and messaging apps have increased the ability of predators to sexually abuse children," U.S. Attorney Philip A. Talbert warned educators and parents in a statement. (ABC10.com KXTV)
  2. If you're wondering about completion of the Sunset Whitney Recreation Area now that the master plan was approved, the Rocklin City Council is taking "a phased approach" to the development. The first phase, called The Hub, will include "various amenities identified by staff and the community as priority, such as a play structure, restrooms, pickleball courts, shaded seating, and more." City Council will review a total of four phases and approve each separately. Public participation in the process will be encouraged. (Roseville Today)
  3. Next door neighbor Citrus Heights has a great community service! The city has a trailer that community groups can reserve on a first-come, first-served basis. The trailer comes complete with coolers, barricades and cones, lawn games and a sound system, among other things. The city drops it off for your party and then picks it up afterward. We need one of those in Roseville! (ABC10.com KXTV)
  4. The Venue's a beautiful new entertainment venue in Lincoln but it can be pricey. If you're looking for other venues for concerts, Roseville Today has suggestions of seven affordable places in the area.

Today in Roseville:

  • It's Camellia Day at the Murer House. "The entire event is free to the public." (10:00 AM)
  • Action Camera presents Effie Yeaw Nature Photography. "We will explore many types of photography including wild life, landscape and macro." (3:00 PM)
  • Join On the Spot Improv for The LOVE Show. "On the Spot is an audition-only, top tier improv team made up of high school students from throughout the area." (7:00 PM)

From my notebook:

  • "The Roseville Public library will be accepting LEGO® donations Wednesday, March 1 - Wednesday, March 8. We're looking for small donations to boost an upcoming program." (Roseville Public Library via Facebook)
  • California Police Youth Charities hosted a group of boys from the Roseville High School baseball team at a Sacramento Kings game! "We are very proud to see these young men and their commitment to their school, sport and most importantly their communities," the charity said. Way to go, guys! (California Police Youth Charities via Facebook)
  • The Audi FIS Ski World Cup event is scheduled for this weekend at Palisades Tahoe in Olympic Valley. With the new blanket of snow up there and the added adventure with cars for this event, county officials are asking you to pack a little extra patience this weekend, or, better yet, take TART. "The TART bus service is free and runs from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Tahoe City, Truckee, and the north and west shores with a direct stop in Olympic Valley." (placer.ca.gov)
