  1. Placer County pets need your help! Hundreds have been abandoned in the county, and the problem is especially bad right after the holidays, when people received pets as gifts that they can't keep. “People bring their dogs in every day to surrender them,” said Sandra Barry, who founded the nonprofit Haven Dog Rescue 12 years ago in Placer County. “We get so many phone calls from people wanting to just dump their dogs. It can be kind of depressing.” What can you do? You can foster a dog, or if that's too much of a commitment, "Haven Dog Rescue needs volunteers to help with transporting dogs, feedings and special needs. Donations to care for the dogs are also needed. For more information, visit havendogrescue.org." (Gold Country Media)
  2. The messy weather is expected to continue in Roseville for the next couple of weeks. Flooding is a possibility. The City of Roseville wants you to be prepared, and its website lists all of the resources you may need in the event of extreme weather: From where to get sandbags to how to report street flooding and road hazards, this resource has it all. (roseville.ca.us)
  3. Creekview Ranch Subdivision is a proposed gated community in southwest Placer. The draft environmental report for the project is now ready for public comment. "The project would include construction of 597 single-family lots in four distinct neighborhoods with 10 villages comprising a range of lot sizes. It will also include five parks totaling 7.67 acres, 1.71 miles of trails, landscaping and utility installation. Approximately 43% of the project site would remain as open space including the Dry Creek corridor. " A public meeting is scheduled for Jan. 12 to receive comments on the draft report. (placer.ca.gov)
  4. Ready for Roseville Today's new California laws part 13? Today's installment includes laws about "cannabis discrimination, CalHome, peace officers, reproductive health, affordable housing and more." (Roseville Today)
