- A Roseville chef made the trek to speak at Sacramento High School at Oak Park. Chef Q Bennet from Roseville's Q1227 spoke to students in a speaker series that the high school is sponsoring for Black History Month. He not only spoke, he made a pot of gumbo and enlisted students' help. He said he was there because it was important for young people of color to see someone who looks like them and achieved success, so they know it's possible for them, too. Nice going, chef! - Speaking of chefs, Collin Torres, a sous chef at Roseville's Nixtaco, and Sean Rumery, a chef at East Sacramento's Canon, competed on a breakfast challenge for the local TV show, "Plate It, Sacramento!" They sourced their ingredients for the three-course meal from the El Dorado Hills Farmers' Market. Watch a clip of the episode in this article from KCRA Sacramento.
- A local producer is making a film in Sacramento. Rocklin-based Robert Craig Films is working with director Julia Verdin on the film "No Address," which stars William Baldwin and Xander Berkeley among other notable names. The shooting will last about five weeks and Craig hopes to release the film in November. (Sacramento Bee via MSN)
