Here are the top stories today in Roseville:

  1. It's been an epic winter of storms in Northern California, but Roseville hasn't seen much in the way of large-scale flooding. Very different from the historic floods in the 1980s and then again in 1995, when nearly 350 residences and other buildings flooded. Why did we escape the flooding this time? Because the City of Roseville spent tens of millions of dollars over the years, upgrading our flood protections, raising homes and building flood walls, among other measures. Roseville earned the nation's top flood control rating due to these actions, according to FEMA. (CBS Sacramento via MSN)
  2. Rocklin's BarnBurner restaurant is closing its doors after seven years in operation. If you're a fan, head over there now, because the owners are inviting folks to join them for a few more meals before they officially close the doors. Another tenant is waiting to take over the restaurant, though. The building "will have new ownership and become the third location of Sacramento breakfast spot Hot Off the Griddle." No closing date is set. (KTXL FOX 40 Sacramento)
  3. The environmental impact report for a new industrial complex in Western Roseville is raising concerns among residents. The report cites "significant and unavoidable" impacts from the development. Multiple factors range from noise and vibration to air quality concerns. Residents are encouraged to learn more about the report at www.rosevilleindustrialparkinfo.com. You may voice your concerns via email to smaples@roseville.ca.us. (Roseville Today)
  4. During the Town Council meeting, Loomis Mayor Danny Cartwright took issue with a letter to the editor published in a recent edition of The Loomis News. The letter stated that the town was "ignoring development impacts" from the 108-acre College Park project in Rocklin. The mayor said, "The truth is, in closed session, this council discussed at length the impacts affecting Loomis." For more of his statement, visit Gold Country Media.
