Here are the top stories today in Roseville:

  1. Local restaurants will go at it on April 22 at the fourth annual Taco Throwdown @The Grounds in Roseville. You get to help decide the winner! The Rotary Club of Roseville sponsors the annual event, with beer and wine sampling also available. Want to take part in your own battle? Try the cornhole tournament! This is a 21+ event. (Roseville Today)
  2. The Roseville Mayor's Cup Golf Tournament is on for May 5. This marks the event's 26th anniversary. The "tournament regularly includes on-course beverage stations, tee prizes, games, raffle, lunch, commemorative apparel and [an] awards reception." Proceeds will go toward assisting qualifying families' participation in parks and recreation activities. (Roseville Today)
  3. The high river flows due to the onslaught of storms this year will help not only humans with a robust source of water, but the Chinook salmon of the region, too. The Nimbus fish hatchery released 1.1 million fall-run salmon into the American River. This is the first fall-run release in three years. The hatchery will also release 4 million smolts, as usual. This looks to be a great time for fish and fishermen alike! (Sierra Sun Times)
  4. An early morning chase along Highway 50 ended in Folsom, where authorities were able to disable the vehicle with tack strips, authorities say. The pursuit started in Placerville in the early morning hours. Highway 50 travelers were diverted onto East Bidwell Street in Folsom while authorities investigated. (KCRA Sacramento)
  5. CHP confirmed that Jerry Cepel was drunk when he drove his car off the road in Granite Bay in January, crashing into a tree and leaving four men dead. The wife of one of the deceased is suing House of Oliver and the driver for "more than $25,000" in the incident. (ABC10.com KXTV)
