Here are the top five stories today in Roseville:

1. The missing Roseville woman, Karen Lawson, who you read about in Wednesday’s Daily, has been found and is safe. Our Roseville Police thank the community for their useful information in this matter. Well done, Roseville! (Facebook)

2. Cal Fire, coworkers, friends and family will bid goodbye to Cal Fire Captain Matt Brabo Friday with a funeral procession leaving the Chapel of the Valley on Vernon Street at approximately 10:30 am and ending at Bayside Church on Sierra College Boulevard at approximately 11:00 am. The route will travel along Atlantic Street to Interstate 80 and exit the freeway at Sierra College Boulevard South. Freeway overpasses along the route will have fire personnel and vehicles present to pay tribute to Captain Brabo. Services at Bayside Church are expected to end at 1:00pm. Be aware that the procession and people leaving the service later may cause traffic delays in those areas. (Cal Fire NEU Facebook and Roseville Today)

3. The Roseville Housing Authority was recently recognized for its efforts to house vulnerable persons through its Emergency Housing Voucher program. The program was awarded the 2022 Housing Choice Voucher Small Public Housing Authority Program of the Year distinction by the Western Region by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The Roseville Housing Authority was specifically recognized for its collaboration with local entities Continuum of Care and the Homeless Resource Council of the Sierras to quickly house recipients of the 50 Emergency Housing Vouchers issued to our region as part of the American Rescue Plan Act. 4. Sad news was revealed about a collision on Highway 65 in Roseville that took place on Saturday. Two good Samaritans, 19-year-old Diana Filinyuk from Rancho Cordova and 21-year-old Michael Olifir from Antelope pulled over to assist drivers of two cars from an earlier crash on the busy highway. They were both hit accidentally by another vehicle as they walked back to their car on the median and died on the scene. One of the drivers in the first collision was arrested for driving under the influence. (Gold Country Media)

5. Folks headed up to the Sierra this weekend should expect some slowdowns going through the Auburn area on Interstate 80 on Saturday and Sunday. Union Pacific will be working on repairs to the train trestle over the freeway. Lane closures will be necessary in case of falling debris from the demolition portion of the repairs. The work will take place between 6:00 am and 5:00 pm on both days. Check this article for more detailed information on the planned lane closures. (The Auburn Journal)
