1. Women's Empowerment Celebrates 25 Years at Silver Anniversary Gala (carmichaeltimes.com) — A Sacramento nonprofit that helps women and children out of homelessness is marking its 25th anniversary with a Silver Anniversary Gala on Sept. 25 at the Sheraton Grand Sacramento. Residents can buy tickets, sponsor a table, or even sponsor a graduate, with proceeds supporting job-readiness, childcare, housing navigation, and other services for local women facing homelessness.
2. New Executive Director Announced for MOSAC (iheart.com) — Sacramento's SMUD Museum of Science and Curiosity has named Carlos Gonzalez-Jaime as its new executive director, starting October 1, 2026, as the museum marks its five-year anniversary. He brings deep experience growing museums and nonprofits and plans a 100-day listening tour with Sacramento-area educators, partners, and community members to help shape MOSAC's next chapter.
3. Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District Reserve Firefighter in Mather, CA (sacbee.com) — The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District is recruiting Reserve Firefighters in Mather, with applications due by September 4 and preference for candidates living in the greater Sacramento region. The volunteer, per-call-paid role involves firefighting, medical response, public education, and ongoing training, and requires EMT certification, a valid California driver's license, and the physical ability to handle demanding emergency work.

Metro Chamber Announces Nominations Are Now Being Accepted to Recognize Outstanding Regional Leaders for 132nd Annual Dinner & Business Awards (sacramentopress.com) — Sacramento Metro Chamber is inviting nominations through September 30 to honor standout regional leaders at its 132nd Annual Dinner & Business Awards, set for January 22, 2027, at SAFE Credit Union Convention Center downtown.
