2. Sacramento headlines this week: RTS new natural gas buses, a Tahoe climb and more (sacbee.com) — Sacramento Regional Transit's decision to buy 78 new natural gas buses will slow its move to a zero-emission fleet, affecting how the region meets California's 2040 climate deadline. Also this week, some local Republicans backed Democrat Doris Matsui, lawmakers wrapped key labor and pension bills, and adventure-seekers gained a new Tahoe Via Ferrata climbing challenge.

Sacramento sheriff releases video of deputy fatally shooting Foothill Farms attacker (sacbee.com) — The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office has released video from a July 15 incident where a deputy fatally shot a 23-year-old man attacking a woman and her daughter with a knife in a Foothill Farms garage. The edited briefing, 911 audio and dashcam footage show the suspect's earlier disturbance at a nearby Starbucks, the random garage attack, and deputies' efforts to stop the assault and render aid.
