1. Sacramento's Dos Rios light rail station opens Monday. What RT riders need to know (sacbee.com) — Sacramento RT's new Dos Rios light rail station in the River District opens to passengers Monday, adding a Blue Line stop between Globe and Alkali Flat/La Valentina. Trains will run as often as every 15 minutes at peak, and Bus Route 33 will be discontinued soon, with a limited Route 133 replacing part of the service.
   

2. U.S. Festivals to Watch This Week: Rock, Pop, and Cuban Flavor (mundonow.com) — Aftershock 2026 hits Sacramento's Discovery Park this Thursday through Sunday, bringing four days of rock and metal headlined by My Chemical Romance, Limp Bizkit, Pierce The Veil, and Tool. With dozens more acts, multiple stages, and new on-site camping options, the festival is expected to draw thousands of visitors, meaning big crowds, noise, and traffic impacts around the park all weekend.
   

3. 1 dead, 2 hospitalized after 2-car crash in Sacramento County (fox40.com) — A deadly two-car crash early Sunday on State Route 160 in Sacramento County left a woman dead and two people hospitalized, briefly closing the highway near Sherman Island Cross Road south of Rio Vista. All lanes have since reopened, but investigators are still determining whether alcohol or drugs were involved, and the conditions of the hospitalized occupants remain unknown.
   

4. Athletics end their 2nd Sacramento season with loss as Houston clinches AL West (sacbee.com) — The Athletics wrapped up their second season in the Sacramento region with a 9-0 loss to the Houston Astros at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento, where Houston clinched the AL West. While the A's had planned a third Sacramento season before moving to Las Vegas, labor negotiations and an expansion bid leave the team's local future uncertain.
   

5. Sacramento mural unveiled to honor Chicano and Indigenous culture (kcra.com) — A new mural honoring Chicano and Indigenous culture is now on display at the Southside Park amphitheater in Sacramento, unveiled during a well-attended Hispanic Heritage Month celebration. Created by local artist Richard Alcala, the artwork features lowriders and tributes to Indigenous lives lost, including actor Cole Brings Plenty, whose family came to Sacramento to remember him and call for justice.
