• Northern California Gann Fire in Calaveras County tops 7,000 acres with no containment (kioncentralcoast.com) — Evacuation zones for the Gann Fire now stretch from New Hogan Lake to just west of San Andreas, with shelters open in Valley Springs and large animals accepted at the Angels Camp fairgrounds. The blaze has grown past 7,000 acres with no containment, prompting a local emergency declaration and a federal grant to bolster firefighting. Residents near the mapped zones are urged to leave early, especially if they need extra time or have pets or livestock.
   

• Arrest made as Gann fire burns more than 9,300 acres in California foothills (hanfordsentinel.com) — A fast-moving wildfire is burning in the foothills below San Andreas and New Hogan Lake, scorching more than 9,300 acres, destroying structures, and forcing evacuations across south‑central Calaveras County. Crews are attacking the Gann Fire with aircraft, bulldozers, and 1,500 firefighters, while a Valley Springs man has been arrested on suspicion of starting the blaze. FEMA funds secured by the governor are boosting firefighting resources as containment slowly improves.
