1. Highland residents near Yaamava' Resort & Casino will have to take a weekend detour (sbsun.com) — Weekend traffic-control gates on Victoria Avenue at Mirada Road and Citrus Street, installed by San Bernardino and Yaamava’ Resort & Casino, will periodically block neighborhood access during peak casino hours. City officials say police and county fire can open the gates for emergencies, and most neighbors reportedly support the change, though some residents worry about detours and disaster evacuations.

2. Freebie of the week: How to get free San Bernardino museum passes (sbsun.com) — San Bernardino County residents can now borrow free passes from county library branches to visit the San Bernardino County Museum in Redlands or the Victor Valley Museum in Apple Valley. With a free library card, you’ll get seven days to use a pass for two adults and three kids, and you can check one out every 30 days.

3. Man dies after sheriff's deputies shoot at him in Lucerne Valley (sbsun.com) — San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies shot and killed a 34-year-old Lucerne Valley man early Tuesday after he allegedly struck a deputy with his vehicle while they tried to detain him. One deputy was treated at the scene, and both the Sheriff’s Department and California Department of Justice are investigating the shooting. Residents countywide may watch for further findings and any policy changes.

4. Layoffs Climb In The IE's Warehousing, Logistics Sectors (patch.com) — Warehousing and logistics jobs across the Inland Empire, including nearby Rialto, Fontana, and Rancho Cucamonga, are being cut as several major companies announce layoffs. For San Bernardino County residents, unemployment stood at 5.0% in March, slightly below the statewide rate, with most recent job losses hitting transportation and warehousing.
