Teenage Boy Wounded In Drive-By Shooting In Linda Vista

A 17-year-old boy suffered a minor bullet wound Thursday in a drive-by shooting near Tecolote Canyon in San Diego.

SAN DIEGO — A 17-year-old boy suffered a minor bullet wound Thursday in a drive-by shooting near Tecolote Canyon.

The victim and a 16-year-old girl were walking on a sidewalk in the area of Morley and Ulrich streets in Linda Vista shortly before 12:30 p.m. when a gray or silver four-door sedan turned a corner and someone inside opened fire, discharging about a half-dozen rounds, according to San Diego police.

The vehicle then continued on and left the area on Linda Vista Road, Lt. Michael Swanson told reporters.

Medics took the boy to a hospital for treatment of a graze wound to the abdomen, the lieutenant said. No other injuries were reported.

The victim "was uncooperative and refused to provide ... any details regarding the shooting," Officer Tony Martinez said.

Witnesses told investigators there were five male occupants of the vehicle from which the shots were fired, according to Martinez.

Police blocked off the 2400 block of Ulrich Street to through traffic while officers investigated the shooting. The roadway was open again by late afternoon.
