1. First-year students move into residence halls at University of San Diego (nbcsandiego.com) — About 1,500 students just moved into University of San Diego residence halls in Linda Vista as the campus gears up for fall classes starting Tuesday. USD leaders highlight a highly accomplished, diverse incoming class and student-led sustainability efforts like EcoShop, which recycles dorm essentials for free reuse during move-in while supporting the university's zero-waste goals.
   

2. Cabrillo National Monument (sandiegoreader.com) — Cabrillo National Monument at Point Loma offers San Diegans sweeping harbor and Pacific views, plus a front-row seat to gray whale migrations in season. With historic lighthouse tours, tide pools, and a two-mile trail, it's open daily most of the year for a modest vehicle entry fee.
   

3. Buddhist Temple of San Diego Celebrates Century of Buddhism (rafu.com) — San Diego's longest continuously operating Buddhist temple is marking its 100th anniversary with special celebrations in September and regular Sunday services on Market Street. Residents are invited to explore "everyday Buddhism" through English-language talks, chants, and cultural activities at the Buddhist Temple of San Diego, which has served local families since 1926.
   

4. San Diego continues domination of Galaxy despite being down a player (statenews.net) — San Diego FC thrilled home fans with a 3-1 win over the LA Galaxy, staying perfect against their rivals and jumping into playoff position despite playing much of the second half a man down. Local supporters saw goals from Elias Achouri, Kieran Sargeant, and Amahl Pellegrino in a gritty performance at home.
