15 Arrested In Transit Safety Operation Along Sprinter Rail Line In North County

The joint enforcement operation focused on the Sprinter Train Right-of-Way, a stretch of property spanning from Escondido to Oceanside.

SAN DIEGO, CA — Fifteen people were arrested during a transit operation aimed at improving public safety along the North County Transit Sprinter rail line, authorities announced.

The Sheriff's Transit Enforcement Unit on Wednesday led a joint enforcement operation that focused on the Sprinter Train Right-of-Way, an expansive stretch of property spanning from Escondido to Oceanside, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.

The areas consist mainly of large fields and brush, where there has been an increase in illegal encampments occupied by criminal offenders, including individuals on active supervised probation and parole, sheriff's officials said.

The Sheriff's Transit Enforcement Unit worked with the Vista Patrol Station's Gang Enforcement Team, and the Oceanside Police Department to remove offenders and enforce trespassing laws on transit property, according to the sheriff's office. The arrests included arrests for multiple felony and misdemeanor warrants, narcotic-related offenses, and trespassing arrests from NCTD property.
