2 Killed In Separate Train Collisions On Same Day In San Diego
Both collisions involved Coaster commuter trains.

SAN DIEGO, CA — Two pedestrians were fatally struck by trains Thursday in San Diego.
In the latest deadly collision, a man was hit and killed by a northbound train shortly before 11:30 a.m. near the intersection of Sassafras Street and Pacific Highway, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
"When San Diego police officers arrived, they found a man who was hit by a northbound Coaster train," sheriff's Sgt. Jason King said. "Paramedics rushed to give aid, but he did not survive his injuries."

Earlier in the day, a man was hit and killed by a southbound train at about 6:30 a.m. near the intersection of Sorrento Valley Road and Carmel Mountain Road, King said.
Both incidents involved Coaster commuter trains. The sheriff's department was handling both investigations because the department's Transit Enforcement Unit investigates incidents along the routes of the North County Transit District.
