212 Pets Adopted During 'Clear The Shelters Day' At SD Humane Society
San Diego Humane Society has adopted out 1,725 pets so far during Clear the Shelters Month.

SAN DIEGO, CA — More than 200 pets found their forever homes and were adopted Saturday during "Clear the Shelters Day" at the San Diego Humane Society.
"San Diego Humane Society adopted out 212 pets for Clear the Shelters Day," Humane Society spokesperson Nina Thompson said. "That brings us to 1,725 for Clear the Shelters month so far."
Hundreds of dogs, puppies, cats, kittens, rabbits, pigs and ducks were available for adoption. All fees were waived during Clear the Shelters Day, a one-day adoption special that was part of NBC Universal and Telemundo's Clear the Shelters Month campaign.

San Diego Humane Society will continue to offer reduced adoption fees for the remainder of the month. Dogs, cats and kittens are available for adoption for $20, and small pets are available for $5 through Wednesday.
"Pets belong in homes where they can give and receive unconditional love," said Dr. Gary Weitzman, president and CEO of San Diego Humane Society. "It tugs at our heartstrings every time we see an animal go home with a new family. It's the best feeling."

San Diego Humane Society is open for walk-in adoptions from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday at its campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside and San Diego. Visit sdhumane.org/adopt for more information.
