4 Arrested On Vandalism Charges Amid SD Zoo 'Skyfari' Shutdown
Four people were arrested on suspicion of vandalizing the San Diego Zoo's aerial tram, which triggered a shutdown and trapped passengers.
SAN DIEGO, CA — Four men were arrested Saturday on suspicion of compromising the San Diego Zoo's Skyfari Aerial Tram, according to media reports. The ride was shut down on Saturday, keeping some passengers suspended in their gondolas for more than an hour, officials said.
The four men — all aged between 20 and 24 years old — were accused of "rocking back and forth" in their aerial gondola, triggering the ride to shut down on , a San Diego Zoo spokeswoman told Fox 5. They were arrested on vandalism charges, Fox 5 reported.
Emergency responders were called to rescue more than 100 passengers from the gondola ride, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

The San Diego Fire Department responded to the incident around 4:30 p.m. to help park guests down from the park ride. Some riders were able to safely exit gondolas on their own while others needed assistance and possibly medical evaluation, fire officials tweeted.
Crews remained at the park until all guests were escorted to the ground before 5 p.m.

The Skyfari gondola includes 80 chairs that take people on a 20-minute ride over the park.
