SAN DIEGO, CA — As we head into the new week, we've rounded up the stories you may have missed Saturday and Sunday to prepare you for Monday.
But before we jump into Southern California's top stories, residents should expect hot and humid conditions this week, according to the National Weather Service.
"Hotter than normal conditions will continue for the foreseeable future," NWS Los Angeles forecasters wrote Monday. "Slight cooling is possible Monday through Thursday, with heat increasing again Friday through Sunday. The hot and humid conditions during the day and night will bring elevated risks of heat-related illness."
In other news, a firefighter was killed in an off-duty crash; a great white shark was captured in a dramatic video leaping from the water near a boogie boarder; and a viral video shows a man kicking a sea lion.
Also, two at-risk children were believed to have been abducted by their father; and a mural at a Jewish temple was vandalized with swastikas and other antisemitic graffiti.
Plus, California is taking the Trump administration to court a third time over its attempts to tie crucial emergency preparedness funding to the president's preferences on immigration enforcement and election administration.
