Crews Quickly Contain Another Fire In Campo

The blaze erupted near Old Highway 80 and Miller Valley Road, according to Cal Fire.

CAMPO, CA – Crews quickly contained another brush fire in Campo Tuesday.

The blaze broke out around 9:36 a.m. near Old Highway 80 and Miller Valley Road, according to Cal Fire. Crews from Cal Fire responded to the scene and stopped forward progress of the flames within minutes.

The fire, called the Miller Fire, did not threaten any structures, according to Cal Fire. No roads were closed.

Crews were expected to remain on scene for about an hour to mop up the area.

Firefighters were also working to extinguish a nine-acre brush fire and a separate one-acre blaze that broke out near Golden Acorn Casino on Monday. As of Tuesday morning, the fires were 70 percent contained, according to Cal Fire.

Last week, a wildfire burned 265 acres in Campo. One firefighter suffered a minor injury while battling the blaze.
