Arizona Police Officer Arrested On Suspicion Of Sexual Assault In San Diego

SAN DIEGO, CA – An Arizona police officer faces possible criminal charges in San Diego following his off-duty arrest in a Kensington-area neighborhood on suspicion of sexual assault, authorities said Monday.

Jared Elkins, 33, was taken into custody in the 4700 block of Marlborough Drive about 4:30 a.m. Friday, according to San Diego police. Elkins was booked into county jail on suspicion of sexual assault.

He has since been released on bail, a jail clerk said.

Authorities have released no details about the alleged crime.

"This investigation is still ongoing" SDPD public-affairs Lt. Scott Wahl said.

Elkins has been with the Yuma Police Department for seven years and will be placed on paid administrative leave pending resolution of the case, according to azcentral.com, an Arizona news website.
