Big Rig Hits Car On SR-163, 2 Injured In Crash
A woman and a juvenile suffered serious injuries in a collision with a big rig on state Route 163 in the Kearny Mesa area, authorities said.
SAN DIEGO — A woman and a juvenile suffered serious injuries Monday morning in a collision with a big rig on state Route 163 in the Kearny Mesa area, authorities said.
The crash was reported around 9:30 a.m. on northbound SR-163 near Clairemont Mesa Boulevard, California Highway Patrol Officer Jim Bettencourt said.
According to a witness account, the woman' was behind the wheel of a Mazda sedan that spun out, then was hit by the truck, causing severe damage to the car, Bettencourt said.

Paramedics took the woman, who complained of labored breathing, to Sharp Memorial Hospital and the juvenile to Rady Children's Hospital for treatment of serious injuries, San Diego Fire-Rescue spokeswoman Monica Munoz said. Their names and ages were not released.
The big rig driver was uninjured and remained at the scene, Bettencourt said.

Authorities shut down the right two lanes to clear the crash scene, but all lanes were reopened by 10:30 a.m.
